PROTEOMICS INFORMATICS COURSE AT ISB: APRIL 27 - MAY 1, 2009


Course Objective

The SPC is pleased to offer a five-day intensive in the use of a suite of open-source software tools designed for the analysis, validation, storage and interpretation of data obtained from large-scale quantitative proteomics experiments using stable isotope labeling method, multi-dimensional chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry. Through daily lectures and tutorials, each course participant should become proficient in the use of the tools; For more details about content, see syllabus and lecture slides from November 2008. Prerequisites

Prerequisite for participation in the course is a demonstrated understanding in the operation of tandem mass spectrometers, the basic structure and interpretation of peptide MS/MS spectra and proficiency in the use of computers. A commitment to attend the entire course is also required.

Details

Applications must be received by March 1, 2009; successful applicants will be notified by March 5 and will be given instructions on how to register. A non-refundable, non-transferrable administrative fee will be charged to each participant accepted into the class and registration is considered complete when this fee is received (deadline -- March 31).

  • Location: Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, Washington
  • Dates: Monday, April 27, 9am through Friday, May 1, 5pm.
        Participants must commit to attending the entire course.
  • Fees: A non-refundable, non-transferrable administrative fee will be charged to
       successful applicants and is due at the time of registration which follows notice of
     acceptance.
           Non-profit participants - $250
           Industry participants - $500
       This fee is waived for participants from NHLBI-funded proteome centers.
  • Lodging, Meals and Transportation: These expenses and arrangements are the responsibility of the participants. An information sheet with suggestions for local accommodations will be provided to confirmed participants.

    Seating is limited -- accepted applicants will be notified on or before March 5.

Registration deadline: March 31, 2009

    Receipt of administrative fee completes registration.
